Why buy a Gravely® from Koenig

The machine is the same. The dealer is not.

Every Gravely® dealer sells the same red machine at the same build quality. What differs is the shop behind it — and that difference only shows up after you own it.

Two different arguments, and only one of them is ours

We are not going to restate the manufacturer’s case for how the machine is built. AriensCo makes it well, and makes it on its own site.

The Gravely® argument

How it is built

All-steel X-Factor® decks welded in Brillion, Wisconsin, and a line that has run since 1916 — grit and gumption, in the manufacturer’s own words. That case belongs to AriensCo, and it is a good one.

Our argument

What happens after you own it

Setup before delivery. Technicians who see these machines every week. Parts on the shelf and your serial number on file. Koenig has been in the equipment business since 1904, and almost all of that value arrives after the sale.

What our shop does
What we actually do

Four things, and none of them are on a spec sheet

We set it up

Deck levelled, blades and tyre pressures checked, controls set to whoever will run it, and a walk-around before it leaves. A machine dropped in your drive on a pallet is not the same purchase.

We service it ourselves

Gravely-trained technicians in our own shops — not a third party you have never met. Ask about pickup and delivery on commercial units, and about scheduling work over winter when the machine is not earning.

We stock the parts that stop a season

Blades, belts, filters and wear parts for the series we sell. Call ahead with your model and serial number and we will have it on the counter when you arrive.

We keep the record

Model, serial and service history on file. It matters little in year one and a great deal in year six, when a warranty question or an odd noise needs a history rather than a guess.

Two long-standing companies, one machine

Gravely® has been building equipment since 1916. Koenig has been selling and servicing equipment since 1904. Neither of us is going anywhere, which is the least glamorous and most useful thing you can know about a dealer.

What to ask any dealer, including us

If you are deciding between dealers rather than between machines, these are the questions that separate them. Ask us, and ask the other one.

  • Who does the service work?

In-house technicians, or sent out? Trained on this brand, or on whatever comes in?

  • What is on the shelf today?

Not what can be ordered — what is in the building for the series you are buying.

  • What happens on delivery day?

Set up and walked around, or dropped off and signed for?

  • Who answers the phone in year five?

Ask how long the parts and service people have been there. It tells you more than any warranty document.

Straight answers

Do you service a Gravely you did not sell?

Yes. Bring the model and serial number and we will put it on file the same way we would for a machine bought here.

Is the warranty different if I buy from you?

No — the manufacturer warranty is the manufacturer’s. What differs is who handles the claim and how quickly the machine gets looked at. How we process one.

Can I get parts without coming in?

Call the store nearest you with your model and serial number and we will tell you what we have and what needs ordering. We are in Franklin, IN, Lebanon, OH, Tipp City, OH, Urbana, OH.

Will you tell me if a cheaper series is enough?

Yes, and we would rather. A machine oversized for the property is the most common regret we hear at the parts counter, and it does not make us a repeat customer.

Ask us the four questions.

Then ask the next dealer. We are comfortable with how that goes.
